Ribl, which stands for "relevant info by location," is a real-time, location-based message board where you can share and discover the most relevant content about your local area so you’ll never miss out on what’s happening around you.Ribl users (or “riblers”) are connected by location, so you can view stories from other riblers who published a post within one mile of you without having to “friend” or “follow” them.
Riblers can post and consume text, articles, and images (video and audio coming soon) about cool things happening around their current area.
Riblers can also “boost” the most interesting posts, which will increase the content’s geographical reach beyond the one-mile radius around where it was created, so more people further away can see them. Additionally, a post’s geographical reach will decrease as time elapses.
Thus, the content that shows up in your ribl feed is either hyper-local to your current location or very highly boosted, ensuring that you’ll only see the most locally-relevant and highest-impact content in your feed.
Riblers are using the app to:
- Share deals with the people around them and discover local deals nearby
- Provide info about cool events with other riblers close to them
- Notify people around their location about crime and traffic
- Ask riblers in their local vicinity for assistance in jumpstarting their dead car battery, finding their lost pet, and more.
